SCMP revamps website with dedicated US and Asia editions to serve growing global readership

HONG KONG, 19 February 2019 – The South China Morning Post today announced the launch of its completely revamped SCMP.com. The new mobile-first website aims to serve a wider international community of readers with two new editions for audiences in the US and Asia, in addition to the existing Hong Kong and International edition.

The new website is designed to serve SCMP’s growing global readership and is a timely response to stay ahead of contemporary content consumption preferences, while providing an intuitive and enjoyable user experience. The changes also aim to benefit SCMP’s advertisers to reach a broader demographic of readers more effectively, offering partners more opportunities to showcase more impactful brand storytelling formats in a seamless manner.    

The new SCMP.com will feature content recommendations for readers powered by AI, enhanced search functions that deliver relevant and robust results, bolstered multimedia content on an agile and dynamic platform, in addition to new and enriched content offerings such as: 

  • Economy for the latest China and global economy stories
  • Expanded and frequent Asia coverage from the award-winning This Week In Asia
  • A new Explained section with aggregated “explainer” content 
  • A new SCMP Spotlight section with in-depth award-winning multimedia stories.

“We invested a considerable amount of time into studying and understanding how our readers use the website when we set out overhaul SCMP.com,” said SCMP CEO Gary Liu. “We felt this is an opportune time to introduce the US and Asia editions with the growing readership from those regions.
